September 2016
There isn't much history about this place, essentially the school opened in the early 1920's to serve children with learning difficulties. It was believed that the fresh air would help them to develop away from the crowded city, the layout consists of two main buildings and a few smaller storage buildings. The lower building consists of mainly classrooms and the school offices with the above hosting a few classes but mainly dorms for the live in students. Originally I thought the school was a primary school, but after finding numerous GCSE books inside it must have been the equivalent of a high school. This site was closed in mid 2010 when the school moved to purpose built facilities in Manchester.
The school is in really good condition with only a few broken windows and very little graffiti, the grounds are still being maintained by someone as the grass had not long been cut....... Oh and the building still has power.
