History

There are many places like this that in ww2 were armed to the teeth with defensive lines, pill boxes, mortar posts and even trenches. In this post I will be covering a nice example of this. All of these can be found littered around old and new hunstanton.

First is a mortar spigot located outside of the golden lion hotel.

And then here it is a few years ago.

And here's another mortar spigot located in a carpark.

And then a TYPE FW3/22 pillbox located next to a road.

Then the former lighthouse was turned into a aircraft observation post for the now demolished roc post that was next to it.

Alongside the coastguard tower is a small Royal Naval style pillbox with horizontal small arms embrasures in each face.

Some good bits there. Funnily enough I have been building up a list of world war two infrastructure around the coast and inland to do over the winter months. Although I have done so much inland already. That old wreck at Old Hunstanton was the first thing I ever photographed with a proper camera.

I was planning on doing all the ones at Brancaster but nature had other plans. I think the first thing I ever photographed was my living room floor lol.

They are all around the coast. All sorts of different stuff. Some well known, some not so much. Random thing to take a photo of ha ha. Did you do it by accident.

Yeah I just clicked all the buttons and then I heard the camera make a noise at one point I had to ask @Bikin Glynn where the shutter button is.
