Built in 1968, likely using the cut and cover method, this 2+ mile culvert passes just under Liverpool's streets. It's quite bland RCB (Reinforced Concrete Box) for most of length, with manholes and three grilled sections that are interspersed at regular intervals.

It's fed by various infalls of differing size, the largest being fast flowing twin pipes quite close to the main infall. We would have followed them up, but it's crawling room only and stoopey to get that far. More investigation is needed in this direction.

As we where sat taking this photo, a woman walked across a bridge blissfully unaware of our presence :D

We walked most of the length of the culvert, but cold feet and the risk of wellie breach forced us to turn back :gay

This is the closest we got to the outfall, which Georgie has a shot of from the other side.

Thanks for looking :thumb
The rest of the pictures are here

EDIT: WARNING! I'm no expert, but there is basically no ventilation between the second grilled section and the outfall. This is a distance of over a mile and there are some quite funky smells; just be careful!
