My first report here. I had heard about a big old school that had shut down in the NE and I had to give it a visit. Unfortunately most of it was stripped out ready for renovation. I was hoping for ghosts but the only thing that spooked me were the horrible little motion sensors which were everywhere. Still a pretty cool trip overall. I took some photos on my 35mm too and I'll post some if any good ones turn out once I get them developed.
History
The Duke of Northumberland's school was founded in 1810 and opened in 1811 in Green Batt, Alnwick for the education of one hundred boys. The present school building was opened as a secondary school in 1903 and it was adopted by the LEA in 1919. After the county re-organisation for comprehensive education in 1974 it became one of the middle schools in Alnwick. The school shut in 2017 and there are plans to turn it into accommodation.
