I have a short vid of the vertical signage being desecrated, but 28DL won't let me upload mp4

Amazing they'd still keep security running. The Park's were gone as soon as the first brick was removed

The Park was overlooked on all 4 sides, the Palace is hidden away in its own jungle, secca's presence is prob more to do with protecting the demo equipment now rather than the building itself

Hey! I've bunged the vid on YouTube, thanks to Mookster for the advice (I thought there was a more directer way), anyway, it looks like deliberate torture when they rip down the signage, good footage but bastard painful to watch...aaargh...

Nasty eh? I reckon they did that for show, why else would they need to remove the sign before demo'ing the rest? Lockdown-happy sods!

My guess is that the original Bishopstowe building is stone rather than red brick, that bit being of the age when Torquay was being built from the very rock they had to quarry out of the cliffs to form the main town, let's wait and see! This is (was) just one of the rubbishy 1921 wings, stone supplies exhausted, bring in the bricks! Oh, and here's a less seen pic of Hitler's attempt...

Went there on Sunday 7th June, lots gone since, foyer included, you can now see the flats opposite from the golf course! Found an old golf bunker, and the guard bears, didn't get inside as secca was obvious (shiny red car, cottages looking well lived in), a bit pic heavy for externals only, I was a bit over-excited as lockdown was getting a bit more leniant!, hope these are OK

Excellent thread - well done.

Good to see a pic of the WW2 bomb damage too.

I feel that future generations will wonder why this generation allowed such a landmark to be flattened. In many places such landmark buildings are being repurposed as appartments. At the very least all the Torquay homeless could be housed there, the times I have visited there are plenty of them. Short sighted imo destroying such a landmark.
