This is another repost from the summer that was lost when the 28 days later website underwent essential maintenance . Scouting about around huddersfield for culverts this came to my attention entering at the outfall in to the river Colne i waded across the thigh deep water and got kitted up inside without going for a swim .
looking back to the start then looking upstream
was a really hot day best place to be underground next pic looking back to the start
best pic of the explore view upstream
moving on upstream there was a mini waterfall but it was dead easy to get past
looking upstream then view backdown stream
looking upstream again there was a change in styles to concrete roof
you can tell it was one of the driest summers we have had very little flow coming downstream ! still looking upstream steel girders now supported the roof
view once more downstream
looking forward daylight at the end sorry about the blurry pic
view outside looking back at the culvert
there was a short open air section before it went below the old mill was outside the bus stop on market street
a small culvert discharged in to the stream popped my head in for a nosy and a bird flew out nearly gave me a bloody heart attack i can tell thee !!!
under the old mill now only a short bit this
looking back on were id just been from a bridge going over the watercoarse
underneath the aforementioned bridge last look downstream
That completes the lower section i climbed out here and walked up the road following the longwood brook upstream there were a couple of short sections that i had a nosy at as well
climbed back in here in to 6ft black plastic corrugated pipe
you could see from one end to the other
back in the the open air not for long start of another bit
looking back then looking forward ( upstream ) at the final section
last section very clean this
exited at the end here . only phone pics on the last bits the first bit was the best bit thanks for viewing
