I doubt there's a steep drop. Think it said mind yer ed. It's weird as fook round there. It might even be a dead end - there didn't seem to be any flow or it appeared to go both ways can't remember. I was in wellies and would have struggled wiv thigh wadorz. I'd like to go back to wandsworth area. I reckon there's more to see

Thought some of yers might like these couple of drawings I came across. First two relate to the weird fork I couldn't get me head around at the start of the thread. Turns out London County Council were planning their storm reliefs with future modifications in mind - even though it was never modified and probably never will be now thanks to Tideway. Good on 'em though - makes for a nice picture

This pic relates to the concrete connection with the Low Level No.2 at the upstream end of the Battersea and Wandsworth Relief - where the three holes now are. Don't remember noticing the patched up brickwork on the left from within the Interceptor (below.) It's only half a bell-mouth junction now! Obviously, the low level no.2 has been built downstream of here as well (it's blurry as fook in pic!) so it's flow no longer goes down the relief. The tumbling bay must have gone when they connected the 'nasty' Wandle Valley sewer or not have been built at all. Liked the manhole shaft drawing as well - heard this was an original entrance as well - fair play! Can send full size images if anyone wants them

Good work finding these drawings, it's always good to discover some explanations for the things we find.
If you could email me the full size images, that would be cool. The more diagrams the better :)

Hey underground explorers

Late to the party here but trying to locate a the wandle valley sewer extension under a property in wandsworth

nothing is coming up with thames water - they said its 2.5m in diameter but only 1.1m below ground (doesn't make sense)

hoping some of you might be able to help locate the actual depth of this sewer line. let me know if you think you can help

Trefoil Rd SW18 2EG
Cringin' over the :turd I used to write. Anyway the sewer's deep there. The 2.5m you speak of runs south to north under acris street. It's the overflow for the main sewer which is diverted east along Trefoil Road (below 11 on my map - there's vents on street view?) The diversion joins the LL2 at 12 on my map. Where it meets the LL2 there's 3+ no. 20ft long ladders to the surface. This is by the railway line at Vardens Road. Dunno what the above ground topography is like but the sewer only rises gradually back up to your postcode.

Ok wow that's very helpful!

So I guess it's safe to assume we could build over the sewer if we wanted to considering what you're saying the top of the sewer would be at least 20ft below ground?

Thank you sooooo much

You beat me to it @tallginge :lol

I can still clearly remember this one as the whole system was such an unusual and confusing setup.
I recall a fairly long ladder down into the system further upstream near Wandsworth shopping centre, but we must have been somewhat closer to the surface by the time we had gone up the sloping pipe and the steps above it at Birdhurst Rd where the blocked off pipe was.
Still must have been somewhat deeper than 1.1m below ground though surely.

It would have been Trefoil Rd that we stopped and turned around where you took this shot:
